A summer Disney vacation can be an awesome trip, but you might be wondering what to pack for Disney World in June. This list will walk you through it all- events, weather, packing list, and more!
Complete List: What to Pack for Disney World in June!
Are you excited about your upcoming trip to Disney World in June? A Walt Disney World vacation is a common destination for families, friend groups and even solo travelers. If you are planning a Disney trip for the summer months it’s important to come prepared, especially when it comes to packing. The Florida weather can be hot and humid during this time, so you’ll want to make sure you have the right items to stay comfortable and protected from the sun.
Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered with a complete packing list for Disney World in June. From clothing to absolute necessity items and even special events happening at the park, we’ll ensure you don’t forget a thing!
Let’s make sure your June vacation to Disney World is unforgettable!
Central Florida Weather in June
In June, Central Florida, which is where Walt Disney World is located, experiences hot and humid weather. Daily afternoon rain showers usually accompany this hot weather.
Preparing for the heat and sudden downpours is essential.
Let’s explore the average temperatures, rain gear, and sun protection essentials to help you have the best trip at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Average Low and Average High Temperatures
The average low temperatures in Central Florida during June range from the mid-70s to low 80s Fahrenheit.
This means that it can still be quite warm even in the early morning or late evening.
On the other hand, the average high temperatures can reach the 90s, making the daytime hours bordering on sauna like.
Dressing in lightweight and breathable clothing is helpful to stay cool throughout your Disney World adventures.
Disney World June Essentials
Rain Gear
June in Central Florida can bring sudden rain showers or even rainy days altogether. Afternoon rain showers are pretty much a given; it’s just a matter of how light or heavy they will be.
Packaging rain gear is a good idea for staying dry and continuing to enjoy the park.
Consider bringing a lightweight rain jacket, umbrella, or a poncho that can easily fit in your bag. This way, you can quickly shield yourself from the rain and prevent your clothing from getting soaked, ensuring you have a comfortable experience at Disney World.
For ideas on what types/brands of rain gear I pack, check out my ultimate guide on what to pack for Disney World.
Sun Protection
Protecting yourself from the incredibly strong Florida sun is essential during your Disney World trip in June.
Be sure to pack sun protection items such as sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and lightweight clothing as a layer in case you get too burned. Some of my go-to sun protection items are in this post.
Apply sunscreen with a high SPF to all exposed areas of skin, and reapply it regularly throughout the day. And don’t forget your lip balm with sunscreen in it! Aloe vera gel is also a must pack item in case you get a sunburn.
While we are talking about sun protection let’s remember to drink lots of water throughout the day. The Disney World Parks don’t have as many water fountains as they should, but they do have them, so be sure to bring your refillable water bottles. Also, any Disney World quick service has free ice water, so you can always grab a cup of H20 there and put it in your refillable water bottle.
Pro Tip: Animal Kingdom is the hottest park of all of the four parks- dress accordingly!
Cooling Items
Don’t forget to pack some cooling items for the intense summer days.
My favorites are:
- Cooling Towels- they will get your clothes wet but they are so refreshing. I like the kind that clip to your bag- see my Ultimate Packing List Blog for specific links to brands I love.
- Rechargeable Neck Fan
- Misting Fan
Packing for Disney World in June
11 Must-Have items for your Ulitmate Disney Packing List
When planning a trip to Disney World in June, you want to pack clothes that will keep you cool and comfortable in the hot, rainy, and humid Florida weather.
Here are some essential clothing items to include in your packing list:
Tank Tops and T-Shirts
Opt for lightweight and breathable tank tops and shirts to beat the heat. Choose fabrics like 100 % cotton, max dri, or linen that allow for better airflow and help you stay cool throughout the day.
Many guests pack matching t-shirts for their group or family with a Disney theme. Etsy has some great ideas for matching t-shirts. Some of my favorites are:
The Disney Store (formerly ShopDisney) also has some great t-shirt and tank tops in a variety of styles and colors.
Since there are four Theme Parks on Walt Disney World property, it can be fun to match your tank or T-shirt to each park. Just be sure it passes dress code– Walt Disney World doesn’t allow. It’s pretty common sense as far as dressing for a family park but it’s best to give it a read before you start packing.
I recommend packing at least 1-2 tank tops (if you wear tank tops) and two or more T-shirts (more if you don’t wear tank tops). Try to pack neutral colors so you can mix and match.
And keep in mind that if you are staying in a Deluxe Disney resort villa that is anything bigger than a studio, you will have a washer and dryer in your villa. If you are staying at any of the other Disney Resorts you can use the laundry facilities for a small fee (paid in the machines).
Off-site hotels may offer other options as far as laundry goes.
Best Shorts for Disney World
Shorts, capri pants or skirts are a must-have for Disney World in June. I inherited my family’s legs (not a good thing, IMO), so I don’t wear shorts often. However, I do wear them at Disney World in the summer.
Opt for comfortable and lightweight shorts that allow for flexibility and avoid chafing. I like linen or athletic-type short fabrics like nylon and polyester. Some may like jean shorts but I don’t think they are a great option for sweaty days, especially if you are prone to chafing. Some of my favorites are:
- Linen Pull on Shorts: Madewell
- Athletic Shorts: Columbia
- Lightweight Pants: Target All in Motion Mid Rise Woven Cargo Joggers
And if you are prone to chafing, I recommend packing an anti-chafing product like body glide.
I recommend packing two or more pairs of shorts and at least one pair of lightweight pants. I usually wear my pants on travel days because of the cold temperature on the plane. I also pack a pair of comfy capri leggings to sleep in and use for working out, in case I happen to fit that in.
Skirts and Dresses
Pack skirts and dresses made from lightweight and breathable fabrics if you prefer these over shorts or pants, or in case you want something a bit dressier for a night out or a sit-down meal.
Flowy maxi skirts and dresses are particularly comfortable and versatile for a day at the Disney parks.
I also love skorts. My favorite brand for this is ScottEvest Scarlett Skort- they have so many pockets you won’t even need a bag!
It’s a good idea to pack two skirts or skorts, and one or more lightweight dresses.
Comfortable Shoes and Breathable Socks
Comfortable shoes and good socks are a must when visiting Disney World, especially in June when you will be sweating a lot.
Opt for supportive and cushioned shoes that provide adequate arch support and cushioning to keep your feet happy throughout the day. Check out my full blog on packing footwear for Disney World (and avoiding Disney feet).
Choose moisture-wicking socks and always throw an extra pair in your park bag in case of a sudden rainstorm.
I like to pack one or two pairs of flip-flops (Oofos are my favorite), wear a pair of good sneakers on the plane so I have them for the parks and working out, and wear some comfy walking sandals like Tevas or Chacos.
Swimsuits
Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit for a refreshing dip in the Disney resort pools and for enjoying the water parks at Disney World.
I also recommend packing a cover-up for going back and forth to the pools. A reminder that swimsuits aren’t allowed at table service restaurants, but you can pop into your Disney resort quick service restaurant with a swimsuit and coverup.
Lightweight Layer
I know, I know, I said it was hot so why would you need a hoodie or light jacket? Picture this you are sweating buckets then you duck into the Frozen Sing Along or Mickey’s Philharmagic for some well deserved rest and entertainment- but the AC is pumped up so much you can’t even focus on said entertainment?
Then you will be so happy you packed that layer!
Extras for any time of the year
You will need these items any time of the year at Walt Disney World, not just during summer vacations.
Here’s what you should pack:
- Portable charger (using the My Disney Experience app is a must so you need to keep your phone charged)
- Charging cubes
- Your own snacks- it’s a great idea to throw some in your park bag in case you get stuck in a long line. You can bring anything in the Disney parks with you except for alcohol, knives, coolers with ice, or any glass)
- Bandaids, blister protection, upset stomach meds, and some type of pain reliever (see my park bag blog for a complete list of what to throw in your bag)
Special Events at Disney World in June
June can be a great month to visit Disney World, not only because it might be ideal for your family or group but also because of a few special events happening in 2024.
Unfortunately, one of those events is ending just before June this year. EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival typically runs into June and then there is a gap before EPCOTS’s Food and Wine Festival starts in July. However, this year the Flower and Garden Festival ends on May 27th, 2024.
But let’s take a closer look at the special night time events happening at Disney World in June of 2024.
Disney’s H20 Glow Nights
If you’re looking for a unique experience and to get in some good water rides on your summer Disney trip, don’t miss Disney’s H20 Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.
This special nighttime event allows you to enjoy the water park in a unique way, and avoid the long lines typical for the summer months at the water parks.
After the sun goes down, the park transforms into a neon-lit party, including special lighting effects and a live DJ.
You can enjoy the following attractions:
- Bay Slides
- Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool
- Gangplank Falls
- Humunga Kowabunga
- Miss Adventure Falls
- Crush’n’Gusher
- Castaway Creek
- Storm Slides
- Mayday Falls
The event lasts from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, but you can enter as early as 6:00 PM.
The June 2024 dates for H20 Glow Nights are:
- Saturday June 1st: $75 for general guests, $60 for Disney annual pass holders and DVC members
- Saturday June 8th: $75 for general guests, $60 for Annual Passholders and DVC members
- Friday June 14th: $75 for general guests, $60 for Disney annual pass holders and DVC members
- Saturday June 22nd: $75 for general guests, $60 for Disney Annual Passholders and DVC members
Disney After Hours Events at the Theme Parks
If you want more opportunities for shorter wait times and exclusive experiences Disney After Hours events are a must-do. These special events take place at three of the four theme parks – Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. They offer all you can eat popcorn, packaged ice cream (Disney refers to them at Ice Cream Novelties), and water/soda type beverages.
For the complete lineup of attractions and offerings, check out the official Walt Disney World After Hours Events website.
The events officially starts at 10:00 PM and last until 1:00 AM but you can enter the park as early as 7:00 PM.
Magic Kingdom
After Hours at Magic Kingdom are on June 13th and June 27th of 2024. The cost is $165 for general guests, $135 for Annual Passholders and DVC members.
Though many, many attractions are open the most popular Magic Kingdom attractions that you can enjoy with much shorter wait times are:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Space Mountain
- Tron Lightcycle Run
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Haunted Mansion
- Jungle Cruise
EPCOT
The After Hours events at EPCOT during June of 2024 are on June 6th and June 20th. They cost $159 for general guest and $119 for Annual Passholders and DVC members.
Popular attractions available during the EPCOT After Hours events include:
- Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind
- Frozen Ever After
- Remy’s Ratatiouille Adventure
- Soarin
- Spaceship Earth
- The Seas with Nemo and Friends
- Test Track
- Living with the Land
- Mission Space
- Gran Fiesta Tour (not sure I would call this a popular attraction but I love it and last time we did an After Hours Event we rode it all alone. It was glorious!)
Hollywood Studios
I love the Hollywood Studios After Hours Events! In fact on our last trip the only time we went to Hollywood Studios was for the After Hours event. We arrived at 7:00 pm and the only thing we wanted to do that we missed out on was the Frozen Sing Along. We got multiple rides on Millenium Falcon, Toy Story, Rockin Roller Coaster, and Slinky Dog. We did get one ride in on Rise of the Resistance.
Given that this park is a bit smaller than the other two, it’s one of the easiest After Hours Events to navigate. The price is $165 for general guests, and $135 for DVC members and Annual Passholders.
The attractions you can count on being open are:
- Star Wars Rise of the Resistance
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Toy Story Mania
- Millenium Falcon Smugglers Run
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Alien Swirling Saucers
- Tower of Terror (though they don’t list this on their website as a highlighted attraction this has been open at every Hollywood Studios After Hours Event I have attended)
During Disney After Hours, the park is only open to a limited number of guests, meaning shorter lines and more time to enjoy your favorite attractions. You can ride popular rides with minimal wait times, take advantage of complimentary snacks and beverages, and even enjoy unique character meet and greets.
I highly recommend these unforgettable events during your Disney World vacation in June.
Disney World Crowd Calendar in June
Planning a visit to Disney World in June? It’s important to be aware of the crowd levels during this popular time of year. Summer vacation brings larger crowds and longer wait times for attractions. However, with a little strategic planning, you can get most (not all) of the attractions and shows in on your summer trip.
A useful tool for planning your visit is the Disney World crowd calendar for June. This calendar provides an overview of the expected crowd levels on different days. It’s a great idea to consult a crowd calendar before even planning your trip so you can decide which days are the most manageable.
Early June tends to be the least busy but anytime in June in Disney World can get pretty hectic. There are a lot of Disney World crowd calendars out there but I regularly use TouringPlans. To get the most out of their calendar, I buy the paid version, which is quite affordable at $24.99 per year. But there are free versions through WDW Prep School and Disney Tourist Blog that are quite good, too.
The Wrap Up
When planning your trip to Disney World in June, consider the weather and special events happening at the park. Packing weather-appropriate clothing, rain gear, and sun protection helps ensure a comfy experience during your visit. Be sure to check the crowd calendar to help plan your days and maximize your time in the parks.
With good planning, you can make the most of your Disney World trip in June, whether it be a family vacation, girls trip, solo trip, or anything in between!
